In collaboration with Warner Bros. and Eintracht Frankfurt, we launched a unique campaign for the new disaster film Twisters, featuring Mario Götze facing his fears and battling a twister that devastates Frankfurt. As part of a global strategy, we partnered with Spyders, one of the leading production companies, to create a stunning cinematic video that generated significant buzz in the German-speaking market.
Warner Bros. wanted to collaborate with an athlete to promote their new disaster film, aiming to leverage the popularity of football, the world’s biggest sport. They sought someone with high relevance, global recognition, and the ability to deliver impactful promotion—someone who would seamlessly fit the film’s concept. Additionally, they wanted to involve a football team to amplify the campaign’s reach. The challenge was further heightened by the timing: the European Championship was set to begin shortly before the campaign launch, creating hurdles around schedules and availability.
Given the nature of a disaster film, finding the right figure who could authentically connect with the story was no easy task. At Mative, we developed the perfect plan to bring this vision to life.
Given that Twisters is one of the most anticipated films of the year, we aimed to execute a campaign with unparalleled quality. Together with our creative partners at Spyders, we developed a unique concept featuring World Cup champion Mario Götze, a key figure at Eintracht Frankfurt. Götze’s global relevance, strong fan base, passion for films, and alignment with the movie’s storyline made him the perfect choice for this campaign.
To further maximize reach and make the campaign even louder, we incorporated Eintracht Frankfurt, securing image rights for their stadium and brand name, which were prominently featured in the cinematic production. Our goal was to create a truly standout campaign, setting a new benchmark that other countries had not yet achieved. The primary platform for the campaign was Instagram, ensuring high visibility and engagement.
The campaign made a significant impact, capturing attention with its cinematic production, which was delivered at an unprecedented level of quality. Organically, we achieved over 2 million impressions, and the engagement was exceptional, with audiences across platforms celebrating the campaign. The integration of Mario Götze and Eintracht Frankfurt resonated strongly with fans, elevating the campaign’s relevance and visibility.
To build on this momentum, we are further amplifying the campaign through targeted social ads, which continue to expand its reach and attract new followers. The overwhelming response has already brought a substantial number of new fans on board, showcasing the success of the strategy.
