Startseite » Kevin Trapp Teams Up with Warner Bros. to Promote the Release of the New Superman Movie
For the theatrical release of the new Superman movie, Warner Bros. teamed up with Kevin Trapp and Mative to create a campaign that went far beyond a traditional influencer activation.
Together with production company Spyders, we developed and produced three unique social-first films, transforming Kevin Trapp from world-class goalkeeper into Superman himself.
The campaign combined cinematic storytelling, humor, unexpected twists and high-end VFX to create a narrative that unfolded across multiple pieces of content — each revealing another side of Kevin’s new superpowers.
And the story did not stop with Kevin.
Football’s most famous transfer insider, Fabrizio Romano, became part of the campaign narrative, while international superstar J Balvin was among the high-profile names engaging with the content.
The result was a campaign designed not just to promote a movie, but to create a moment people genuinely wanted to talk about.
For the cinema release of Superman, Warner Bros. wanted to create a campaign that would generate attention beyond the traditional entertainment and influencer space.
The ambition was to connect the movie with a different audience and bring a high-profile athlete into the world of Superman in a way that felt authentic, entertaining and completely unexpected.
We needed someone who could credibly embody the character.
Someone with international recognition.
Someone with a genuine connection to the DC universe.
And someone who could step into the role of Superman without the collaboration feeling forced.
The choice was Kevin Trapp.
A passionate DC fan and one of Germany’s most recognizable football personalities, Kevin was the perfect protagonist for the story. As a goalkeeper, the idea of having “superpowers” between the posts already felt like a natural creative connection.
There was even a unique coincidence linking both worlds: Kevin Trapp and Superman actor David Corenswet share the same birthday.
Our challenge was to turn those connections into something bigger.
Instead of creating one sponsored post, we wanted to build an entire narrative around one simple question:
What if Kevin Trapp actually became Superman?
Our goal was to create maximum attention with a campaign unlike anything audiences would normally expect from a professional footballer.
We developed a three-part content series that gradually revealed Kevin’s transformation into Superman. Each asset had its own creative idea and surprise moment, while all three were connected through one overarching narrative.
Three pillars. One story. Kevin Trapp as Superman.
The campaign started with a cinematic announcement featuring Fabrizio Romano. Rumours suddenly emerged that Kevin was about to leave football for a career in Hollywood. When Kevin discovers the news on his phone, his reaction reveals the first twist: he uses laser vision to burn the phone, teasing that he has developed Superman’s powers.
By combining the unmistakable language of football transfer news with cinematic storytelling, we created an unexpected crossover that immediately sparked reactions and curiosity.
The second film took a completely different approach. Kevin is simply mowing the lawn — until the camera pulls back and reveals that he has created a giant Superman logo in the grass.
The simple setup and unexpected reveal created a social-first moment designed to surprise audiences and keep the Superman story moving forward.
For the final chapter, we went all in with a cinematic hero film showing Kevin’s everyday life with Superman’s abilities.
From laser vision and freezing objects with his breath to superhuman strength and flying, high-end VFX transformed Kevin’s daily routine into a superhero story inspired by the world of the movie.
The result was a format rarely seen from a professional footballer on social media and generated attention far beyond the football community, with global names such as J Balvin engaging with the campaign.
This was never designed as a traditional celebrity endorsement. Instead of simply placing Kevin next to a movie title, we gave him an actual role within the Superman universe.
By combining football culture, the global power of Superman, the credibility of Fabrizio Romano and cinematic storytelling, we created a campaign with multiple creative entry points and repeated moments of attention.
Rather than relying on one hero post, the consecutive rollout turned Kevin’s transformation into an ongoing story — making the campaign feel less like advertising and more like entertainment.
The campaign generated more than 1.5 million organic views and achieved strong engagement across the entire rollout.
By combining multiple high-quality assets with a connected storyline, we were able to create repeated moments of attention instead of relying on a single campaign peak. The content sparked highly positive reactions from the community and reached far beyond Kevin Trapp’s core football audience.
The activation also attracted organic engagement from internationally recognized personalities, including J Balvin, further amplifying the cultural relevance of the campaign.
Most importantly, the campaign successfully brought together three worlds that rarely collide in this way: Hollywood, football and social media entertainment.
What started as a movie promotion became a social-first crossover moment that showed the power of combining the right talent with a strong creative idea and ambitious production.
Because sometimes, promoting Superman means creating a new one.
A huge thank you to Warner Bros. and Spyders for the incredible collaboration.
